Chapter 12 - THE GRANDDAUGHTER

Since it’s a small town, the chances are high for everyone to know about everybody’s business, and don’t know when to mind their own. The Granddaughter, as she has been called lately, is no stranger to having her own private life put into the business and papers of everyone else in town. Though everyone, even sometimes to her face, calls her the Granddaughter, she has a name. But her name doesn’t matter to others, because before she was the Granddaughter, she was the Daughter. The Daughter of the town drunk who bought and hoarded all of the town’s pineapples. The Daughter that everyone took pity on when her mother left her and was later found passed out surrounded by at least two weeks worth of Chinese takeout food in the library basement. She would earn the title of the Granddaughter later on, being the Granddaughter of the woman who wasn’t quite as bad as her mom, but was still talked about because her grandma was...
